Description: Cells are small and delicate with a tapered apical horn or spike and one or more antapical spines. Chloroplasts present.

Cell Size: Length 40-60um

Distribution: Coastal cold water species in both Pacific and Atlantic.

Synonym: Amylax tricantha = Gonyaulax triacantha
