		Genus: Cerataulina \| Diatom Common West Coast species: C. pelagica, C. bicornis, C. dentata Order: Hemiaulales Family: Hemiaulaceae Description: Cells form close-set chains by apposition of tips of elevations. Cells have bipolar symmetry and bipolar elevations, and numerous small disk-like chloroplasts. The apertures between cells in chains are narrow, and cells are twisted about the pervalvar axis. Cell Size: Length 50-200um, Diameter 5-75um Distribution: Cosmopolitan, warm coastal areas.
